How to Choose Press-On Nail Size in UAE
Choosing the right press-on nail size is the single biggest factor in how your SMiDA KR press-on nails look and how long they last. Sizing is also the most common mistake first-time customers make in Dubai and across the UAE. This guide explains exactly how to measure your nails, what to expect with our XS to L size system, and what to do if one size does not fit one finger.
Why size matters more than design
A correctly sized press-on covers the natural nail with a small overhang. It does not press into the side walls, and it does not leave a gap between the cuticle and the tip. When the size is right, the bond is stronger, the look is salon-clean, and the nail can be reused 3 to 4 times. When the size is off by one, the nail lifts at the corners within hours.
Step 1: Measure each nail width
Use a flexible tape or paper strip across the widest part of the natural nail, just above the cuticle. Note the width in millimeters for all 10 nails. Most UAE customers fall into one of two of our sizes per hand.
Step 2: Match width to SMiDA size
SMiDA KR press-on nail sets include sizes from XS to L. Roughly:
- XS: under 9 mm
- S: 9 to 11 mm
- M: 11 to 13 mm
- L: over 13 mm
Your thumb is usually one size up from your other fingers, and your pinky is usually one size down.
Step 3: Test the fit before glue
Place each press-on dry against the natural nail before any glue or sticker. The press-on should match the nail width exactly. Slight overhang at the tip is fine. Side gaps mean the size is too small. Pinching at the side walls means the size is too big.
Step 4: File for a perfect match
If a press-on is one millimeter wider than the natural nail, gently file the side edges. Do not file from the cuticle area, only from the side walls.
Step 5: Save the rest of the set for reuse
SMiDA French tip, cat eye, solid color and colorful sets are reusable. Store unused sizes in the original tray. With careful removal and a clean nail bed, the next wear can last just as long as the first.
Common UAE sizing questions
FAQ
What if one finger is between two sizes? Choose the smaller size and file the natural nail tip slightly. A press-on that is too wide will lift first.
I have wide nail beds. Is L always right? Not always. Wide nails sometimes still need M for the pinky. Measure each finger, do not assume.
